Algernon was born in Lunenburg, Virginia. He moved his family, to include his parents, to a farm in the Collinsville community (now Southside) of Montgomery County, TN. Algernon & his wife are buried in Southside Cemetery.

The urn had been broken off the top of the memorial numerous times. It was repaired & reattached, & the entire monument cleaned.
