Happy Ctenophore Day!
These glowing ocean drifters look like jellyfish but aren’t! They’re comb jellies, shimmering creatures that light up the sea with rows of beating cilia 💙🌈
Which species can you identify? 👀 Most are raised in @pawelburkhardt.bsky.social lab

Happy Birthday to arctic explorer Francis Leopold McClintock, born on this day in 1819. McLintock is best remembered for leading the expedition that discovered the "Victory Point Note", and confirmed John Rae's testimony on the fate of the lost Franklin Expedition of 1845.

Fishy fossil find points to possible polar bear ancestry for Scottish bears
New analysis of ancient bones and fossils found in a Highland cave has revealed them to be 'fishier than the average bear' and could even suggest polar bears once roamed Scotland.
