I suppose that's where the correlation with the seasons/northern hemispheric perspective comes in. Water/phlegmatic/winter, air/sanguine/spring.
Though the air one makes some degree of sense to me, in that it is both hot and wet - warm air is capable of holding a much higher degree of water vapour

maybe some natal chart bias bc i'm a Gemini asc, but it works really nicely with the Gemini Sun in the chart for the Regulus materia
