A brief pause, a hand dabbing gently at the corner of her eyes, a sigh pulled from her lips.

"We were a team, he and I. But I just wasn't any good, I guess. Not good enough for him...So he threw me away. I was a child..I hadn't any home. No folks. I just wanted to be cared for..."

"Jenny Wren." She added, head turning back towards him as she allowed the mass of feathers to wrap tight around herself.

"I was like you once, y'know? Wanted to help the big Bat. Wanted to stick besides him and do good.. Was just a kid then."

"But you know what happened..?" ++

Watchful of the boy, Jenny could only feign a sigh in her sorrow, turning herself from him as though to hide away the shame.

"Who am I? I've think I've asked myself that very question hundreds if times and I still can't decide how to answer it. But these days, I suppose I've gone by — Jenny." ++

She'd mutter softly to the robin, jabbing a thumb in his direction.

"Something's not right in the head with that one. Eh, love?"

The robin would delight itself from his gentle touch, in turn singing a song of approval while it remained perched on that of Jenny's own shoulder.

The woman shook her head, brushing the bird's feathers back into place, being sure she remained in prime shape.

"Few screws loose.." ++

A playful tilt of her head, her smile etched across her lips but it never did reach her eyes.

"Sweet boy.."

"He sends you out to fight against danger all the time, letting you get wrapped up in it. Ol' Batman."

"But he's the danger, y'know?"

"Dangerous?" She cooed between the heavy downpour of rain, the black around her eyes smearing to something seemingly more — sinister, & yet her voice & tone came across as anything but.

"This? Up here? You're a Robin afterall, what have you to worry about danger?" ++

Her gaze shifted from him towards the robin perched comfortably at her shoulder, raising a finger to gently stroke the feathers beneath her pet's beak.

"I've normally just called her love. Poor thing. Kicked from the nest by her no good kin."
