Tim Culbertson will speak on the genus Lycaste, most especially, the smaller cooler growing varieties. These are wonderful plants to grow here in Santa Cruz.

Prosthechea vitellina (syn. Encyclia vitellina) grown outdoors by a member.

This cool-frowing orchid grows in oak/pine forests in Latin America at high elevation in conditions similar to our coastal climate.

Pleurothallis ornata. This odd-looking pleurothallid is native to Mexico. The fringed flowers are a real conversation starter!

Pleione formosana. This orchid is quite hardy and can be grown in small containers. Just keep the bulbs dry during winter dormancy, bring back out when they start sprouting. Very rewarding!
