Currently reading the excellent "Triptych" dissecting Manic Street Preachers' 1994 masterpiece "The Holy Bible" from three different points of view, fascinating to see just how much there is to discuss around one single album

Relistening to "Dog Man Star" made me reflect on my favorite albums from 1994 — one of the greatest years in music, if you ask me. What are yours?

After struggling, I now quite like it. A bit long and not a fan of the production, but Butler's guitar, the gloomy atmosphere, and the strong opening run all shine.

I like some stuff she's made afterwards, but I really struggle with this EP, between the cringy lyrics, gimmicky prod tricks, boring compositions and plodding ballads

Muse - The 2nd Law (2012)

Afraid to say it's not as bad as its reputation suggests...
Some terrible tracks, too long, and as usual I struggle with Matt's vocals/Muse's production style, but the poppier cuts kinda work on me...

Lowlights : Survival, Unsustainable

Now listening: Pulp - Different Class (1995)
Not as crazy about this one as for other britpop classics but still : constantly good, sometimes great, and has two of the greatest songs ever written thrown in for good measure.

Nice textures, really like how the acoustic guitar sounds are treated to create these glitchy, warm atmospheres... Kinda like Mid-Air Thief but shorter so it doesn't get boring

Slowly growing on me... While still not a big fan of Anderson's voice, Bernard Butler's guitar work is pretty stellar, and there are some really undeniable tunes
