Lucky. I tag so many things knowing that I'll never get that notification. My tastes are too obscure, I suppose.

Any Heinlein in particular?

Until they start seeing the transaction as paying for an experience, and reading should always be something experienced.

Anyway, just some things I've been thinking about that have been shaping my approach to the new year, my 14th self pubbing. Thought they might help others. That's why I shared.

And you're probably saying, "Well, duh ..." But, for me, that equation for flipping to exchange of money for experience means they are always going to try and get the most for the least. So trying to get them to give me more than 99 cents for a novella/novelette is going to be tough ...

The other thing that pushed me to more experimentation was the realization that as much as I want episodic fiction to work as ebooks, the value equation for readers hasn't flipped. They still see money they are spending on books is an exchange of good for products.

In other words, if it feels hard at times, that's because it is. I did this math at the start of the year, and it really clarified some things for me in terms of my strategies and where I want to take things in 2025. Maybe it helps you too.

Making memories for you both.

Ooooo ... I hadn't gotten to that last part. Maybe I don't pick it back up then.

Why did that one fall flat? I've started it 2 or 3 times but can't seem to make it to the end. Not the book's fault. Life always seems to get in the way of reading when I pick it up again.
