May 18 marks the Day of Remembrance for the Crimean Tatar Deportation of 1944. Over 250,000 were forcibly removed to distant #USSR regions in an act of ethnic cleansing. The trauma continues today.

We stand with those fighting for truth, #freedom, and justice.

We strongly condemn Russia’s designation of the German Council on Foreign Relations and Deutsche Welle as “undesirable organizations”.

This is an attack on independent research, #journalism, and cross-border dialogue. Academic and press #freedom are vital for #democracy and mustn't be restricted.
