anyway here are four of the studies I did this weekend #art #artsky #watercolor #pencils

(9 of 8 lol) I guess to wrap up... I'm liking this method. Yes, I'm "copying", but I'm getting some reps in: on using the medium itself, on drawing specific subjects, and even just on comparing the two: what went right, what went wrong, what I can use later. And it's more fun than drawing boxes.

(8 of ~8) catwheezie did this one, and I assaulted it with my weird developing style. I was trying to capture the contrast in fur that brought life to this black cat. I did okay. The eyes are too close to the background and the teeth are too small. And the black needs to be blacker. #watercolor

(7 of ~8) This is my terrible rendition of Karen Obuhanych's "good to the last drop" - I liked the perspective and the relatively straight lines in drawing a cat. as you've seen, I can butcher just about any recreation! #watercolor #pencil

(6 of ~8) I think my main point here is that I'm still growing and learning how to do things by hand. I loved the cuteness of this guy, and I think I did a fair attempt at my own version of this. Better than a doodle, but we ain't winning awards here. #watercolor #pencil still on board though!

(5 of ~8) I loved the perspective on this one from ZhannaDart and I failed miserably at recreating it. But I was able to start working on contrast and darker colors in the #watercolor #pencil medium. I might return to this one and do a re-do in a few months.

(4 of ~8) Turns out this guy by kirsty.paints on Instagram was just a piece of the original painting, but I just loved the composition so much. I worked on light background and learned how not to position a cat face. Oh, and an eye sparkle! #watercolor #pencil

(3 of ~8) This guy caught my eye - it's actually just a poshmark listing, seems to be mass produced art. But I liked the high contrast and was interested in trying to leave behind white space. I learned about using the correct pencil to outline the remaining white! #watercolor #pencils

(2 of ~8) This was the first I did, by an artist named Mitch on Instagram. I love his work, and am sad to see that he isn't posting much anymore. In this #watercolor #pencil study, I focused on just using 3-4 colors, and blending large areas. It didn't go so smooth lmao

I'd be interested to see them! I promise I won't cause a NextDoor intruder alert crisis if you DM me the deets 🤣

I was wondering if they were in the area! Is there a specific park you found them in? Asking for my own photos :)
