Emily Sohn has been named the winner of the 2025 Sharon Begley Award for Science Reporting! Her grant will support a book on creatures thriving in human-altered environments: "It feels more important than ever to tell these stories of resilience."

Freelance journalist Anna Gibbs has been awarded a Taylor/Blakeslee Mentored Science Journalism Project Fellowship! She'll work with mentor @joshuasokol.bsky.social on a story about an innovative effort to reverse coastal erosion in the Maldives.

CASW has elected Richard Harris as its next president! Harris was a science correspondent @npr.org for 35 years and is author of the 2017 book Rigor Mortis.

We are proud to announce that 19 journalists—7 New Horizons fellows and 12 participants in our climate and health workshop—are receiving travel funding from CASW to attend SciWri24, thanks to generous support from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
