Excited to share that I am the new Fish Culture Program Manager in the Fisheries Branch of the Manitoba gov’t! I will be responsible for Manitoba's premier fish hatcheries and lake stocking programs, as well as the strategic vision for the future of fish culture and conservation in the province!

Baby lake trout are growing up! 80 days since we collected these fish as eggs, and they are almost ready to feed for the first time! 🐟🧪

Silver colorations! 🧪

Baby lake trout are getting big! Their silver colorations are beginning to develop on the sides of their yolk-sacs. Not long now before they can feed on their own! 🧪🐟😭🥰

Part two: live action baby lake trout 🐟. Hard to imagine that a select few of these blobs grow up to be 40+ inch monsters 🎣

Some baby lake trout 🐟 for your afternoon! These larvae are from stressed moms (simulated catch-and-release angling events), and we hope to find out if that stress transfers to the offspring! Here, we are assessing how well the babies cope with a short chasing stress.

We’ve been raising lake trout from fertilized eggs and they are finally big enough for their new tanks! Each tank represents a different maternal stress treatment 🐟 🐟 🐟 @calebhasler.bsky.social
