As pessoas precisam consultar mais frequentemente ao léxico. Confundem conservadorismo com reacionarismo, fascismo, fanatismo religioso. Em verdade, muitas palavras tem sido castigadas, desgastadas, e seus significados distorcidos: narrativa, polarização, apaziguação.

#Platforms profit while causing people to develop difficulties with empathy and dialogue. Individuals in positions of power exploit the public’s distraction—constantly occupied by wars among themselves and imagined enemies—to advance their own political agendas.

To move forward, clear legislation must hold platforms accountable; their algorithms create echo chambers and bubbles where hate, lies and misinformation are perpetuated—the algorithms imprison users in parallel realities, drowning them in misinformation, fear and hatred.

The solution lies in regulation, not censorship. Developed countries (Europe, Australia, etc.) already enforce effective policies and penalties on platforms, such as time‑use limits, algorithmic transparency, content labeling, restrictions on advertising directed at minors, and fines.

The lack of clear rules and the unchecked influence of Big Tech and social‑media platforms over society demand urgent, coordinated regulatory responses.

All sectors, corporations and areas of society are governed by laws and regulations—TV, radio, air and ground transportation, law, medicine, engineering, etc. This protects people, prevents crimes and abuses, and guarantees equal rights. Why should technology corp. be treated differently?

These effects harm both adults—whose brains are fully developed—and children and adolescents—whose minds are still forming—making the consequences for young people even more severe and often permanent.

In the case of social media and their #algorithms, the resulting “diseases” are psychiatric disorders: #depression, anxiety, OCD, paranoia and agoraphobia, as well as a growing consumption of psychotropic drugs and anxiolytics.

Cigarettes are responsible for the illness and death of millions, generating public‑health problems linked to multiple types of cancer, cardiovascular disease, infertility and numerous other pathologies.

The tobacco industry operated without #regulation, wielded a powerful political lobby, and promoted cigarettes without restrictions (just as Big Tech and social networks do today) until it was finally subjected to strict regulation.

The current landscape, dominated by #BigTech, social media platforms and #AI, already constitutes a PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE, very much like the tobacco industry was in the 1960‑1990s.

É urgente, portanto, combinar regulação inteligente, educação digital e um debate público aberto para restaurar a saúde mental coletiva e garantir que a tecnologia sirva ao bem‑estar da sociedade, e não o contrário.
