I like when the "gardener's" "hand" passes straight through the base of the "plant" at 0:08.

I don't know if she's on Bluesky, but please tell her that her art is AMAZING and breathlessly anticipated.

I'm sorry for leaving it so late, but I couldn't let Queen of Twilight just sit there unloved. She's so gorgeous! 😍

(and I figured y'all could use the cash before the holidays)

Thank you so much for posting this. Lovely to see such a respectful end to a sad story.

I hate being on the other side: I *want* to be amazed by a cool photo, be agog at a strange new species that I've never heard of before, be impressed by someone's scholarship into a new topic. But I need to check three sources before I'll believe that a new thing is real, and it's just less fun.

Oh, definitely. Disorientation (sometimes severe) and loss of focus, but no pain. Happened few times each year for the 4-5 years before menopause, stopped with menopause. Once I figured it out, I knew they were coming because I would get HUNGRY for a couple of days before they hit (also common).

Among many things, I'm sad that AI has effectively killed a wide range of satire, because if this had been written and photoshopped by an actual human, it would have been hilarious.

(but I legitimately love the "collarbones".

This was already a superb thread, thank you for taking it to the next level.

It's true that Chicago has lots of vacant land, but gas stations tend to be located on especially convenient corners, because they're especially convenient corners. It's a shame when the spots that have lots of foot traffic and bus stops are just parking lot/gas station wastelands.

Wow! I thought that remediation was so prohibitively expensive that this essentially never happened. Pleased to learn that might not be true/might not always be true.

So, does this mean that the landlord has assigned all of his intellectual property over to the bank that holds his mortgage or nah?

I'm no expert, but in the 2010's there were a bunch of articles about how coyotes, wolves, and dogs were interbreeding, thereby expanding the range of coyotes, which suddenly inherited human habituation and the body mass to take down deer.

The biologists affectionately referred to "Canis soup".

None of these are really landing quite right, but I'm going to sleep on it.

Ooof. I don't know if this helps, but please remember that depression doesn't just affect your current mood, it edits your memory. You only remember the bad shit, which makes it really hard to envision better things happening. Depression LIES to you about your own potential for healing.

I have fond memories of that exact scene leaving the lab on many a night. Great picture.

I should note that we were on prescription meds, but not through Walgreens, so we just told them that we were on the meds and they took our word for it.
September 13, 2025 at 5:19 PM
Walgreens, Chicago. They give you a card listing the qualifying health criteria, which sounds simple, but then the computer demanded an associated medication as "proof" that we had those problems. I don't know what they do about qualifying criteria that are not treated with prescription meds.

I am equally impressed (derogatory) that it required diplomatic intervention to prevent these guys from being shackled on their flight home, even after everyone acknowledged that they were valuable and desired workers.
