#alt4you Alt text: a cartoony drawing of a brown spotted hyena running with the Progress Pride Flag in its mouth. Text below it says "Existence is Resistance. Live out of spite if nothing else."

It would be bad. Hopefully the simulations are wrong.

If the temperature difference is too large, the equilibrium breaks down, and the wind speed limit depends on things no one has the answer to. Shock waves could form around the eye wall, and the storm might not even be a circulation anymore, just one large updraft. No one knows.

The temperature difference between the ocean surface and the top of the clouds in a hurricane has an energy balance equilibrium, and therefore hurricane wind speeds cannot break the sound barrier.

At 50 C ocean temperatures, a hypothetical class of storm called a "hypercane" is thought to form.

"And then there came a sound, quiet at first, that grew into a castrophony so immense it could be heard far away in space. There were no screams. There was no time. The mountain called Monkey had spoken. There was only fire, and then, nothing."

"Drill baby drill" is a declaration of war on those 3 billion.

3 billion people rely on the ocean for food. A blue ocean event in 2026 to 2027 realistically means ocean surface life dies in 2027 to 2028, followed by deep sea life soon after and with it close to 3 billion people.
