While combing through old weather files, I found this unusual report. In Barrow (now Utqiagvik), Alaska — home to all sorts of harsh and extreme weather — they were amazed by... calm winds! 🌬️

When it happened on Oct. 30, 1990, it was the first time some children there had felt an hour with no wind.

Our November climate summary was published today. A few takeaways from the author:
☀️ 2nd-warmest November on record statewide!
🌾 Finished the longest freeze-free season on record in Raleigh (an early start to spring helped, too)
🌧️ Wettest fall on record for Asheville, even with a dry Oct. and Nov.
Before our recent wintry weather, it felt like fall — or even warmer! — in North Carolina most of last month, which was our 2nd-warmest November on record.
