This is our new buddy, BigHead. I wasn't in the market for yet another wild field mouse but this fella was the cutest lil bean I've ever seen. His permanent house comes Saturday, I just hope he doesn't escape until then. If he does, that's okay too.

Last week, my cat's best friend escaped. He's a wild field mouse I rescued in the winter. Overnight, I caught a mouse but it seemed to me, it wasn't HIS mouse. The next night he alerted us of a paranormal disturbance and we spent an hour catching his mouse. Now we have two wild field mice.

So our babies died Sunday morning, a co-worker who took one as well, his also died. We got healthy domestic zebra finches. The dark one is a boy, Dalton (after Dalton Castle) and the lighter one is a girl, Sciel.

I rescued nuggets at work yesterday in 100° heat. One fell from 15ft+ and I caught the other in my hat. They stayed in a box on our loading dock and I said "if they're still kicking, I'll take them home". There was no access to their nest. We decided to name them once they made it 48 hours. 1/2

This is the progress that house finches made of a nest on my front door. They trusted us to shelter their nest with our faux plant wreath. We thought they were done at 3 eggs. Today was number 4.

Day 5 of housing a wild mouse. My mom has been periodically adding gifts to our foster's habitat. Both the wife and my mom will probably throw me in the trash if I let him go in spring, as per the original plan.
