The set up for and narrative necessity of the car break is so prefect (and yeah, heartbreaking)... everything in it is so good. It's absurdly well-constructed and has so much heart.

I only watched that one because my kid wanted to (assumed it would be obnoxiously pop culturey) and it ended up being one of the best things Disney's done this century. I don't think I've ever actually seen him crash through the thing because he finishes his mantra and I just close my eyes

Lilo and Stitch is the only one of the Florida studio features that didn't absolutely blow me away, but I think that had some of the cut sequences been in the final movie (this, but ESPECIALLY Stitch and the fish, which distills so many of the movie's themes), I'd have pedestaled it with Mulan & BB.

I haven't watched the original! I'll pop in that DVD next (assuming it's included).

The children in these countries usually prepare a song or poem to recite when the trio visits. If they do well, Anděl rewards them with candy; if they haven't, Čert shakes and howls, reminding them that they have all year to prepare for next time to avoid his little tantrum. 4/end

The pair delights in each others' company, and in playing their favorite game: trying to convince St. Nick as to whether a child is naughty or nice, with each making giving examples of behavior and making arguments. 3/

While old St. Nick (called "Mikuláš" and "Miklavž" in these countries) usually has to hunt down the mischievous Čert, Anděl can be found patiently waiting in Heaven. When the three are all together, Anděl lowers them to Earth on a golden rope. 2/
