Obviously not! The bones of giants are in the basement of the American Museum of Natural History, and they come alive every night.

hold up… but surely a velvet ant would be both (or either) velvet or ant?

There's also xofluza, a newer medication than tamiflu, which is FDA approved for post-exposure prophylaxis. Might be worth asking a doctor about if you land in that position. I hope you're recovering well!

Thanks for sharing-- I've really appreciated Rev Kate's kindness and openness with sharing her story on other apps. So it's nice to see her story told in media.

you do cats, dogs, and hedgehogs... but would you do a seal and/or a pig?

One of my jobs years ago used to celebrate "animal onesie Wednesday", where we'd all wear animal onesies (and meet in the kitchen for afternoon cookies).

No need to mention halloween, just lean in to the animal onesie and you'll be a legend :)

Reminds me of Malcolm Gladwell's story about how he started his journalism career: www.thisamericanlife.org/348/tough-ro...

There was a YC company in 2011 that had the same pitch. Hyperink was a self publishing platform; the founders broader goal was to automate the writing, editing, and publishing process. Obviously pre-LLM, but these "disrupters" aren't as novel as they think. I can't imagine they'll have a better fate

I'm not one for arbitrary price inflation, but it's a missed opportunity to charge $6.02

I agree. I'm just concerned that the perception of how commonly mask failure happens is skewed by social media reports of failure that was caused by masks not being worn properly. Same concern for rapid antigen test performance and outdoor transmission.

I see "I wear a mask everywhere and still got covid" posts pop up on social media, and I wonder how many of them fit this category. It's unfortunate because I think those posts cause a lot of doubt and anxiety for folks :(

Don't forget about Genevieve Gorder. And Ike Holter.

Most importantly, I have like 100 followers on BlueSky, so that's gotta be worth something?

Years ago, I was writing my dad's obituary and was almost ready to send it off to the paper and something looked off. Did a little googling and realized that I (and apparently many other people) don't know the difference between:

interment v internment

When I was in my 20s, I was traveling to NYC and on a bus in Queens. Another person (presumably lifelong NYC resident) asked me where I was from, and I replied Minnesota. They had never heard of it. The genuinely confused stare they gave me is seared in my brain.

Second this :) The research group I work for has looked at this extensively and never found evidence that RATs were picking up newer variants less well. If you look at sensitivity conditioned on viral load, the performance is quite steady over time.
