an interesting fight on Reddit about the difference between English treating "visa" as a Latin verb morphologically and German treating it like a Latin noun. obviously everyone is right, but I'm curious if there are other examples of the German case (deverbalized loans)

got to give an impromptu morphology lesson after hanging out with an accomplished golfer who, to my utter mortification, pronounced the brand of his gear and balls [tɑitliɛst] (tightly-est)

been researching clusters of negation: when they're good, when they're weird, when they're spurious. came across the phrase "never fails to disappoint" and it made my head spin... AI obviously not helping.

can you tell me what you think this phrase means / comes from / is used for?

bleak shit from LA public schools today, just absolutely gutted thinking about the poor soul who had to cross this sentence off in both the English and Spanish side of ~450 pamphlets

Kewpie depictional ambiguity: are the arrows pointing to the tab, or the pull direction?

if we were to find linguistic ambiguity in the same context -- and we do -- best not to model it as a property of the language
