Want to know more about Germany before Hitler?

The Weimar Republic was an interesting time in Germany. Cross dressing was more prominent in bigger cities, lesbians had their own journals and pamphlets, the art scene was experimental.

These are all things that the Nazi party pushed back on.

If you want to learn more about how Germany ended up in the third Reich, both of these books are helpful in furthering that understanding. Highly recommend these two to get you started.
