I love getting those scam EZ Pass payment texts because I don’t have a car or driver’s license. Aww geez, you’re telling me I absentmindedly strolled onto I-66 East on my latest neighborhood promenade? Took a lil jaunt onto Dulles Toll Road while having an after-dinner amble?

March is #NationalReadingMonth and today is a momentous occasion! I’ve had these books on hold at the library since mid-December and they are finally within my grasp! This marks the longest hold of my life since a certain very popular kids’ book in second grade.

What are you reading this month?

I kind of feel like I look like I’m from the mid-to-late 19th century, but in my defense, there’s COLD in them thar hills! ⛏

What’s a book that you didn’t really love reading but that greatly impacted you or you think about often?

For me, it’s Moby-Dick. (1/7)

This is the second time in two days— and two different towns— that a black cat has crossed my path. I’m not normally superstitious, but this is starting to feel like that scene in Macbeth where some random guy we never see again pops in to tell us that the former king’s horses ate each other.

Yeah, Chappell Roan’s #Grammys performance of “Pink Pony Club” was great and all, but nobody is talking about my equally fire performance of “Red Curry Paste” (performed in my kitchen to the tune of “Pink Pony Club” while adding red curry paste to my chickpea curry)

I feel like I missed out on so much as a kid/tween/teen because I felt like I was too ugly to be allowed to fully participate in life. If I could go back, I’d tell my younger self that everyone feels awkward and self-conscious at that age, but if we’re all awkward, nobody’s awkward!

Sorry you’re not as cool as us and weren’t invited to the tea party at my mom’s house

I’m not normally a big believer in “retail therapy,” but I have to admit that this cute little purse really helps with my general mood.

I first saw it in a little shop about 9 months ago, didn’t buy it because it was outside my budget, and it’s been my white whale ever since. But now it’s mine!

Finally, an image from the DC news that made me smile this week! (The new pandas at the National Zoo— not pictured here— are officially on public display!)

I think the biggest sign that we’re on the wrong timeline is the existence of one “Rupert Grint.” You just KNOW that kind of name only exists to be the mirror universe counterpart of an otherwise identical guy named Robert Grant.

My controversial opinions about the current trend of highly minimalist Shakespeare:

I like a minimalist approach to the Bard, but I think it has to be done within certain parameters.

Both Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Shirley Jackson’s We Have Always Lived in the Castle start with the protagonist walking through the village carrying books while villagers sing a jeering song about her. Both end with them living in the castle after a mob invaded it. In this essay, I will…

Went on a snowy hike at Mason Neck today to see the tundra swans, so I naturally cosplayed as a tundra swan to inspire them to trust me. 🦢🦢🦢

My phone camera doesn’t zoom in enough to get a good photo of the swans, but they looked gorgeous through binoculars!

When you go see a piece of regional theatre and you open your playbill and you see that the actor playing like the 8th biggest role has been in 19 other shows at that theatre, you KNOW that character is going to steal the show. You know the director sat them down and went, “So I have this VISION.”

Aging is just a series of leveling up to increasingly obscure types of yogurt. After a childhood full of trendy “kids” yogurt snacks and Dannon and Yoplait yogurts in my lunchboxes, I spent my 20s mainlining Greek yogurts and have now in my 30s finally hit the Icelandic skyr tier.

I haven’t seen the new #Mufasa movie, but I kinda get the vibe from the trailer that they created this entire elaborate backstory just to explain why Scar has an English accent in The Lion King and Mufasa is American. (1/4)
