The story becomes even more impressive when one considers that 40 years ago, Shenzhen was a modest fishing village in Bao’an County, with a population of about 30,000 and an urbanised area of just 3 square kilometres.

It was a captivating sight to see, as the interplay between the wind and skill created an enthralling spectacle. Some kites were elaborate, while others were simple and lightweight. Unfortunately, my pictures do not capture the fascination adequately.

As an ecological municipal park, it serves as a "living museum" where people and nature cohabit in a scenic and tranquil environment. During my visit to the park on Sunday, I observed various generations—grandparents, parents, and children—flying their kites.

FLYING KITES AND BEAUTIFUL NATURE. Lianhuashan Park (莲花山公园) is located at No. 6030 Hongli Road. It covers an area of 181 hectares and is aptly named Lotus Hill Park due to its seven hills that resemble blooming lotuses.

The immigration process was smooth and automated. I am always amazed at the efficiency and scale of infrastructure in Asia and the friendliness extended towards Westerners. After almost 22 hours of travel, I finally arrived at my hotel.

There are three options for travelling from Hong Kong to Shenzhen:

1/ Ferry Service: You can take a ferry directly from the airport to Shekou Port (蛇口港) in Shenzhen, where immigration formalities must be completed.

MUC→FRA→HKG→SZX. Following my last visit a year and nine months ago, I returned to Shenzhen—the technology hub of China. The journey began with a flight to Frankfurt and several hours to Hong Kong. Upon arrival, I took an airport shuttle to Shenzhen.
