The look also depends on the brush you're using. In this example it's a hard edged one but here in this example I basically did the same but with slightly textured brushes.

it's also a good base to start off from if you want to paint more over it !

SOOOO 😂 very basic as I said… That’s my go to shading when I don’t have an elaborate plan.

I would also always use a lighting ref or create one on my own (Magic Poser is a good tool for that).

The shadow color here is a bit more beige but usually I take a non-saturated purple.
