Wow, I'm excited to see the results! Filter type?
My guess is that the backpack pump is not ideal because it's a water pump, and not super good at moving air.
By contrast, our little sampler is an air vacuum pump and probably better suited to the job.

MBARI is incredible. Both the ESP3 and their new FIDO instrument have the potential to be game-changers for eDNA sampling in marine AND freshwater systems.
