I’m not talking about subtext. I’m saying that the original post is simply wrong. The press release doesn’t refer to people that way.

Even if you agree with the interpretation, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s misleading.

The original post is misleading, sensationalist and factually false. Do you see why this is a problem? Especially when it comes from someone who describes herself as a "journalist".

This is not what's written. If you read more carefully, the "dire threat" refers to the alarming trajectory of Americans' health, not to the people being affected by these disorders (as implied by this post). We shouldn't be fighting misinformation with misinformation.
