Stood in the back garden this morning to listen to a Song Thrush singing and thought I heard a Redpoll. Stuck Merlin on to check. Think it's been at the whiskey !? #YorkshireBirding Hooded Crow AND American Robin 🤔

I'm careful not to bang on about my kids on here, but stupendously proud of their performances in the opening night of Oliver Twist at Hull Truck last night.

Today's @webs-gsmp.bsky.social on my little site was interesting. Since Oct 2013 when I first started I don't think I have ever submitted a count with no geese, until today; Except there was this dead Greylag.
Fox ? Dog? Note small scat in 2nd pic. Interested in people's thoughts #YorkshireBirding

So last night I had 5 of 5. But only 1 in the trap, and that (incredibly??) was a 1st for the garden. Cor they're special aren't they? VC61 #TeamMoth

Despite the wind and the moon I still managed a moth. Just the one, mind. Dark Sword-grass
VC61 #TeamMoth and that was a little frisky #potshot

Fantastic night at the Adelphi in Hull last night courtesy of @joe-solo.bsky.social and @jesssilk.bsky.social
If you fancy some light in the dark and great tunes (who doesn't?) you might still catch them...

An unsurprisingly quiet and extremely soggy trap overnight. 3 of 3 in Red-green Carpet, Blastobasis lacticolella and a Green-brindled Crescent. VC61 #TeamMoth
However I also added to my @panspecieslisting.bsky.social with a rather mighty Giant Willow Aphid

#YorkshireBirding #UKBirding Made me very happy.

Again @flamboroughbird.bsky.social triumph with todays #Migweek ringing session. Perhaps the 5th year we have returned, at my eldests request (which alone speaks volumes).
Huge thanks to everyone involved. Seeing all ages & levels of interest genuinely engaged is heatwarming.
Ringed under licence.

An expected quiet night. 7 of 6 but when that includes NFY in Feathered Thorn and Blair's Shoulder Knot how can I grumble?
VC61 #TeamMoth
October 11, 2025 at 7:34 AM
Nothing like it would've been Friday or Saturday night but still a soggy trap rewarded with a gentle 10 of 7 sp. Green-brindled Crescent most numerous (3) and NFY Sallow VC61 #TeamMoth
October 6, 2025 at 6:34 AM
Most definitely a #goodpostday can't wait to wrap my ears round this.
New from Idlewild (think insta is their thing) Ah well.
October 4, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Given temperatures plummeted to 3.3C and the trap this morning was shrouded in freezing fog I was amazed I caught anything, so with 6 of 6 and 3 NFY I am very happy. Ashamed I let the fog hamper my photos, but here's Pink-barred Sallow, Barred Sallow and Green-brindled Crescent VC61 #TeamMoth

A Northern Wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe) and showing off my photogrpahy prowess with a Red-throated Diver, both from @flamboroughbird.bsky.social yesterday

Had a genuinely marvellous day @flamboroughbird.bsky.social today. There weren't hordes of rarities and my photos and videos are questionable, but spoke with loads of great folk. Had better views of the Red-breasted Flycatcher than this video, suggests too! #UKBirding #YorkshireBirding
