Always thinking long and hard about setting for any big story. Had a nice Midwest vibe in the first book, using real places. This second book is like Pacific Northwest: volcanoes, redwoods, coastal cliffs, dams, a city with a needle-like structure. Very interesting for a giant, very "natural."

Geez I do love small, short, quirky, eccentric, and bold characters who are surprisingly capable and punch well above their weight. I'm really digging them, too, as a kind of sidekick to a humongous character. It's like cute and so cool! Little fennecs are the best at it.
