Thanks to all of your donations, including support from Tess' friends, who said, "Tess would have been excited that their memory would help give their fellow sex educators a little of the safety net they had," we're now able to create the The Tess Devèze Healthcare Fund with the proceeds.

Tess died in July, after years in treatment for cancer that were hard physically, mentally, and financially, in the process learning there were limited resources available on the interactions between cancer and sexual wellness and intimacy, and worked to fill this gap from lived experience.

Tess Devèze was an Australian occupational therapist, sex educator, activist, and author of "A Better Normal: Your Guide to Discovering Intimacy After Cancer."

We also want to recognize Stephen Luntz, our matching donor, who was raising in honor of his late friend, Tess.

We’d also like to give particular thanks to two generous donors. @wawchealth.bsky.social who gave us an incredible $25K donation to help support sex ed at the end of last week! Thank you, WAWC!

All our paid staff are now assured excellent funding for their healthcare for 2026, and our volunteers now have a big bucket they can draw from for help with their healthcare, too. We can’t thank the 233 donors who have pitched. We’re so grateful for all of you!

By the end of our first week, we’d activated a $10K match, and as of today, we have surpassed our goal, and in just two weeks, no less! As of right now, we’re at an incredible $50K to provide needed healthcare for the real humans who make Scarleteen the wonderful, human, unique place that it is.

Their post on COCSA is a reminder that Scarleteen doesn’t just offer inclusive sex, health, and relationships education for young people. Heather is a leading expert and their work is used in trainings and education for sex educators all over the world.

Earlier this year, Heather wrote about “child-on-child sexual abuse,” a concept many Scarleteen users are anxious about. Heather broke down what COCSA is—and is not—for readers as well as parents and others working in the sex ed field.
Since we’ve been fielding a lot of questions in our direct services about child-on-child sexual abuse (COCSA), @heathercorinna.bsky.social wrote this article to explain the nuanced details of this term and provide helpful information for youth. Full piece here: www.scarleteen.com/read/abuse...
