Wonderful day yesterday doing a recce on Drakes Island off the coast of Plymouth, to see how easy it would be for a Bioblitz exercise for our students. Fabulous cormorant nesting site and lots of lovely inverts busy on the plants.

Some photos of the cool beasts we saw on the 1st year BSc Zoology field trip to Zahara de Los Atunes in Spain. Beautiful place and the trip was great, but the power cut was quite a wake up call.

I got up for a second from reading in bed and my space was taken. On the bright side when I managed to move him the spot was still nice and warm.

Processing files to analyse acoustic diversity for a student project is quite dull! I can’t do anything but wait and I am very impatient! Hopefully the data will be worth its several months if bird recordings from reed beds at a WWT site.
