In SBURB, if you play the game on 4/13 the earth's sun gains text reading "Homestuck" next to it.
This is in reference of the highly popular playthrough series Homestuck, which is regarded as a very influential part of SBURB's popularity.

In 2010, a couple got a divorce over SBURB. The former wife was a Seer of Light, and her character's high perception allowed it to deduce (accurately) that her at the time husband was cheating on her.

The former husband went on the SBURB forums to complain, and became an infamous meme.

In SBURB's credits sequence, the design and creation is attributed to "A.H."

To this day, the person behind this pseudonym has never been identified.

In the IGN review for SBURB, the reviewer appears to be using a very strong weapon despite explicitly stating that he didn't play the game for long.

Shortly after the review came out, the user u/tentacleTherapist reverse engineered the weapon, showing probable editing of game files in the review.

In SBURB, spiders are considered to be unusually kind. Not many are aware that this is actually a bug in the game's code, caused by a very obvious overflow in the game's code.
