Garrett's plane could've been CC's. And you are arguing with a game that contains lots of Easter eggs that may or may not have meanings.

And the difference is that Tales have been ref. too many times in the main games to just be an easter egg.

If the backstory is literally 1:1 with the books, then yes, the books are indeed in the games timeline.

None of the other continuities have exact 1:1 events to the games

It is also supported by the fact that Tiger Rock mainly focuses on Kai's arms. While The Mimic wanted to rip all arms, legs and the head.

That is why I think the epilogues of Tales (which was written after SB was released) focused on The Mimic in the Pizza Place.
To try to bring back the original intention of The Mimic being the secret big bad, replacing Burntrap. And, maybe, try to give Tangle a new backstory.
