Home Brewer, Food Banker for 23 years (retired, sort of ), Reader. Lover and learner of science. Welcoming and Affirming Baptist Christian (and yes, we do exist).
If it was anything like DS9, the pace of work was beyond grueling. Like finishing an episode and striking sets as the actors were still getting collected to leave the sound stage (interview with Billy Mummy who did a DS9 episode).

Actually, that is the point I was trying to make. I retired from a Feeding America Food Bank, and your point is very well taken. 10% of people my age or older are food insecure and a staggering 25% of children. In the richest country in history hunger isn’t just a problem. It’s an abomination.

I am NOT a child.

I am NOT his family.

I’m a citizen which technically means I AM (along with you and our fellow 342 million +/- citizens) HIS BOSS!

I hate that I feel I have to say it out loud but, please God, get back home safely afterward…

Keep your dignity-forget the “partner.”

(And yes, I did intend both literal and euphemistic use of “forget.”)

Admittedly there is more nuance needed that just these three principles such as appropriate family leave, personal leave, universal health care, etc. But it remains that the right deriding “socialism” as laziness or wanting a free ride is pure ignorance of the actual principles.

“A rising tide raises all boats.” JFK

Me: That’s true, but we got a lot of people treading water cause they don’t got a boat.

It really should be simple and reasonable:
1. All must work as able.
2. Everyone has meaningful work within their chosen skill set.
3. There is some combination of resources-Pay, Work Benefits, Government Benefits, Public Benefits-that enables everyone to take full care of ones self and dependents.

For the record-recognizing the greatness and wishing this could go on while, at the same time, understanding the validity of the reasons behind the discontinuation are not mutually exclusive.

Reminds me of something said by Monty Python.

Jesus wasn’t funny, he said simple reasonable things.

“Love your enemies” isn’t funny. Two thousand years of Christians killing each other to prove who has the right way to love your enemies is hilarious.

It’s a problem that has existed from the foundation of the republic. While checks and balances exist theoretically in the Constitution, *all* enforcement mechanisms are under the direction of the executive. If the executive simply refuses to cooperate there doesn’t seem to be any recourse.

You know, like a lot of things happening now, the issue here is not an isolated incident that could have been an error (a really stupid easily avoided error) but the fact it is one more incident in a very prevalent pattern.

But that being remotely possible to actually happen depends on her not having given or countersigned the order.

Puts me in mind of a cartoon from three decades ago.

A customer is in front of a service desk with a placard showing multiple floors with every kind of book imaginable. The caption:

“What do you mean you don’t have a coffee bar? How can you call yourself a bookstore?!”

I’m repeating myself, but I really feel he is behaving like a trapped and cornered frightened animal, which only makes him more dangerous and which will only get worse while he is in office.

I love something in the original (and remake) that I never noticed until it was pointed out to me. When it first appears, the Blob is colorless-a kind of milky grey substance. After consuming the first human, it turns red and becomes increasingly red the more people it consumes.

Vehemence of debate is inversely proportional to the importance of the matter under discussion.

Corollary: a fifty million dollar building budget will pass by acclamation, but there will be blood let over the color of the carpet.

Somebody explain to 47 that Treason is clearly defined in the Constitution-the only crime defined there.

This was done *explicitly* to deny government the power and kingly practice to name actions they didn’t like treason and anyone that displeased them personally a traitor.

Should be required reading in High School.

(And still [they] go on in the red sunrise, for a Doremus Jessup, Mary Bruce, or Catherine Lucey can never die.)

On a related note, saw a interesting bumper sticker on a Tesla today:

“Forgive me. I can’t afford to get rid of it.”
