A little reminder of the Churches Mutual Credit Union - sensible loans to support ministry!
For those with the resources, an ideal way to support other people - by investing with CMCU.
Not just for #CofEpeeps
Car loans and loans to buy an electric bike, for example.

The entities formerly known as HSTs, now @gwr.com 'Castle class', are heading for extinction this year.
Caught this one passing Totnes Riverside on the South Devon Railway, en route Exeter -Penzance.

I'm not sure Robert Jenrick has quite understood how ventriloquism works.

2:00 on Friday September 19th and "The Cornish Lunch" - great name for a special train - passes Totnes Riverside on the South Devon Railway.

Destination was Par. Good thing they were eating on the train as by the time they got there they were half an hour late..

Starting point was Cardiff.

I've read it!
Cheerful, self-deprecating, account of starting a new kind of church community in the shadow of a great Cathedral. Frank about failures and false starts, politely critical of some church authorities, and a good read.
Especially if you are thinking of doing church differently...

OK, got round to buying it.
Now I'm going to have to read it...
(No, looking forward to it, @revcharlottegale.bsky.social)

The Very Expensive Train (Brittanic Explorer) passes the South Devon Railway at Totnes Riverside.
Blue 66 on the rear, GWR autocoach on the SDR service train.

5 minutes before the Northern Belle came over the Cogload flyover from Bristol, a GWR IEP came under it from Castle Cary, forming a Paddington-Paignton service.

57513 Scarborough Castle leading the Northern Belle Birmingham-Paington trip off the Cogload Junction flyover 19 August 2025.

The whole consist looks amazing, pity about the Mk1 coaches!

Well, we know what they mean.

But the text of this message conjures up images of a line of broken-down trains stretching from somewhere between Bere Alston and Plymouth and/or Gunnislake.

"All lines are blocked". No, @GWRhelp, they're not. They're devoid of working units.

Interesting interlude at Waterloo after an on-time trip up from Templecombe...
Fire alarm test is clearly announced and implemented, incl. a dummy Station Evacuation message - and the lovely retro call for 'Inspector Sands' to go to a specific point on the station.

More Malestroit.
A doorway with carved figures. The chap with a saw must be Joseph, not sure about the others.
Lovely light through a modern window.
Two remarkable mythic figures from the time of the crusades, covered up for centuries, only discovered ten or so years ago.

On the other hand. In the less well-endowed town of Malestroit, the modern sanctuary furnishings appear to be made out of MDF.
The pulpit ( Fortunately inaccessible) is a monster!
But Yes Yes Yes to whoever decided to help visitors by explaining the East window!

I have come to realise that church-crawling in France is sooo rewarding- and occasionally challenging.
So...
Fabulous modern altar in cathedral at St Malo. WW2 destruction + Vatican II = splendour.

Oh dear, Film4 schedulers having some fun. Early Ealing Comedy "Hue and Cry" is on.
Plot revolves around a 'Beano'-style children's comic called.... 'Trump'.
