First run of 2026 in the books. It may have been a slow walk/run interval, but I still lapped everyone on their couch today. footpathapp.com/tracks/36A21...

As a semi-regular runner for the past five years and a quasi-runner several years before that…I can say it really isn’t about the speed or distance or any other way of quantifying it. Instead, it is about being grateful to have the ability to run. Results of being grateful to be able to run today…

1 Mancos High School girl ran in the 2A cross country state championships today.Couldn’t be there to support, but I ran in solidarity. Roughly a four mile route, but I managed not to track the first mile or so and forgot to put on my Fitbit. Oh well. My body knows. footpathapp.com/tracks/E49C0...

Made my first run in a month and a half now that I’m hip bursitis pain free and acquired a new pair of ASICS after a Fleet Feet store fitting. It was slow, but not painful. And I felt the bounce in those shoes…something about CO2. Thinking that’ll be appreciated as a runner in my 40s.

I was finishing a 5K today when I started thinking about that question every runner gets, but can’t adequately explain or answer: “Why do you run?” And I think I run in honor of every girl and woman who should’ve been able to run further, but was a victim too young, for those told “you can’t.”

Tried my own version of a MURPH today at the gym. Managed a decent mile run, 25 assisted pull-ups, 50 modified push ups, and 75 squats. So tired after that I didn’t even attempt the finishing mile run. (My legs were shaky). Mad respect for everyone capable of doing a complete MURPH…

So as far I’m concerned, a Sunday run is just a good a way as any other to express gratitude for or worship what we all call life.

Has anyone else ever wanted to say, “Hey FitBit, I’ll decide what kind of exercise I want to do and when…thank you very much.”

Your favorite idiom, phrase, mantra, or saying that rings true and stays with you…that, my friends, was probably written by a poet. #happynationalpoetrymonth
