Wow, Hillary Hickland shaking her head when Rep Collier said "your side does not reflect the diversity of Texas"

Rep Howard offering an amendment that puts a hold on the maps until we have an independent redistricting commission so that the politicians are drawing lines that they can then run in, which feels relevant to at least one member of the redistricting committee. #txlege

The Coastal Bend area, which has similar environmental and infrastructure issues, is directly impacted in the proposed maps - Right is proposed, left is current.

There is something very rich about AG Paxton accusing #txlege D's of having "billionaire handlers".... every accusation is a confession with these guys.

I wonder what Illinois judges think of forum-shopping games? (Adams Cty is in red in, Chicago is near the lake (in blue))

Current witness & Sen Hinojosa is pointing out how coastal bend communities were cracked into three districts to support the overall gerrymander. The Coastal Bend & Corpus Christi are have a lot of similar environmental concerns which are only increased with climate change. #txlege.

Here's a view with the cities involved, connecting latine areas in east austin, San Marcos, New Braunfels & San Antonio. You can see here how they have cracked the southern part of San Antonio so that it loses its voting power. 2/3

guy who knows nothing about Bexar County or the I35 corridor says "I think it's a very good district, compact, not jiggley easy to drive" Come ON! (left is proposed, right is current 1/3

Aside from [waves hands in shock] everything, that Chair Hunter is presiding over the splitting of the coastal bend into separate districts is certainly an interesting choice as his legacy [left is proposed, right is current]. #txlege
