I'm baffled by his confidence about the feasibility of this illegal ethnic cleansing plan. Egypt and Jordan have been adamant in refusing this, and so has Saudi Arabia. Is this now just for local consumption by his base (which I don't think cares that much about this), or is something else going on?

Let's remember that Trump is still the least popular US president in modern history. Just as in his first term, he is the only president with an initial approval rating below 50%. There are more of us who disapprove of him than approve (and the good news is that there are almost no "undecideds" now)
