Research shows that misogynistic spaces are one of the biggest contributing factors to domestic violence & gender-based violence. These are the same spaces that normalize the objectification and dehumanization of women, along with misogynistic "jokes," "lockerroom talk," etc.

Misogynistic communities, content dehumanizing women as objects, content depicting violence towards women, etc have regressive effects. Countries that have feminist movements, women in leadership, etc, have decreased rates of gender-based violence. How we treat members of communities is socialized.
Studies show that gender-based violence is reduced in countries that have higher feminist movements along with having more positive portrayals of women. Other studies show that misogynistic spaces increase malicious attitudes towards women. How women are treated in a society is socialized.

I have been reflecting on toxic and performative masculinity, red-pill manospheres, & alike. Toxic masculinity demonizes anything "feminine," including women. Ultimately, encouraging contempt and mistreatment of women, which is then conducive towards gender-based violence.
Marilyn Frye: The Politics of Reality: Essays in Feminist Theory. This perfectly depicts how misogynistic communities often only hold reverence for men while simultaneously holding contempt for women. Bell Hooks on how misogyny requires the demonization of anything deemed feminine.

Warning signs of abusers from Lundy Bancroft’s book “Why Does He Do That?”. Four pillars of domestic violence, research on domestic violence adapted by Ellen Pence. Cycle of abuse that starts with idolization (also known as the honeymoon & lovebombing stage), later moves to devaluation once the abuser feels the victim is sufficiently attached, & lastly going to abuse escalation. Cycle typically repeats when the abuser hoovers to repeat the cycle. Power and control wheel. Many ways that abusers attempt to have “power & control”. Forms of abuse.
