Writer, fiction editor, artist. Lives on a boat. Regular contributor to SFX magazine. Walk without rhythm, and you won’t attract the worm.
Would love to get either a Switch or a SteamDeck (in terms of rechargableness), but do *not* have the money. Plus, boat life wouldn’t let me sink dozens of hours into games the way I used to… :-)

Shall bear that in mind - although life on the boat has been entirely absent of any gameplay (other than board game variety) so far, and living off solar power makes the PS4 a bit challenging power-wise. (Maybe on sunny days - need to power it up to see if it works.)

Of COURSE the Elvis MODOK is a NEXTwave thing. It’s been so long since I read that.

Ah, Midnight Suns! Isn’t that the one where in the downtime between missions, it turns into a hangout game and you can go fishing with Doctor Strange, or something? Heard good things about it. :-)

1: Wait, that’s the Captain from NEXTWAVE, isn’t it?
2: I really want the three floating hamburgers to be their own separate figure with their own blister-pack.
3: Also: the Captain, Hercules and an Elvis-themed MODOK are literally the most Ollie-coded Marvel deep cuts you could have chosen.

Fab stuff. That linework is giving serious 101 Dalmations/Triplets of Belleville vibes. :-)

All in all, it’s a horrible mess whichever way you look at it. It’s just not *entirely* the mess that it immediately appears to be.

It’s not impossible they could cram *some* kind of ending in, considering they’re clearly adapting Brief Lives for the 2nd half of the season. I guess they might turniThe Kindly Ones (the longest of all the Sandman arcs) into a truncated epilogue/climax, but no idea how they’ll ever get it to work.

I think Netflix prefer in cases like this to get an ending of some kind, rather than increasing the size of their ‘serialised story cancelled after S1’ mountain, but they don’t want to pay *too* much. And Sandman is an expensive show (despite not always looking that way).

3 Body Problem is another case in point - Netflix renewed it, but only for an undisclosed number of episodes that would ‘wrap up the story’. Also worth remembering that the green light for S2 of The Sandman took months - Netflix is usually pretty quick to axe/renew.

(The final season of Arcane has some great stuff in it, but it’s also embarrassingly overstuffed and spends most of its time in narrative overdrive. It’s absolutely about three seasons worth of material crammed into too small a space.)
February 1, 2025 at 9:54 AM
There’s previous form for this, with the Netflix animated show Arcane, which was clearly set up as a multi-season story, and then shortly before S2 dropped last year, they announced “This is the final season, and this was definitely the plan all the way along, ignore any time we said otherwise.”
February 1, 2025 at 9:54 AM
…but the allegations didn’t hit until July last year, at which point the show was either almost done shooting or already in post-production. I think Netflix gave them another one more season, so the show would have an actual ‘complete’ story, and they just kept quiet about it.

As far as I know it is - haven’t ever done tiff-related stuff, but I think aside from some very small differences (I know there’s a couple of things on Affinity Designer you can’t do on iPad), it’s basically identical to the desktop version.

Have been trying to figure it out for ages, and it’s felt a bit like stumbling around a dark room trying to find the light switch. Today feels like progress, and progress tastes GOOD. #drawing #pencildrawing #art #gesturedrawing

Fantastic stuff. Also: just noticed the driver is the spitting image of Richard Pryor and now cannot unsee.
