Lot to love about this @nytimes.com editorial arguing for moderate politics as the way for Dems to win. I was struck by this passage on measurement validity. Potential reading for those teaching undergrad methods.

So this is why we can't have nice things anymore. We lied too much and too often to advance a sacred project at the expense of truth. Here's the article: dailycaller.com/2025/03/31/e...

Did anyone in Bluesky notice that hacker posted NYU admissions data on their homepage? I assume NYU would have reacted if the data were inaccurate. Radio silence @nytimes.com as well. Big news unfit to print?

The evidence of using DEI as ideological litmus test and a way to hire people based on race is overwhelming. To the point there's zero resistance to its dismantling. Best source is research by John Sailer. Approved by at least one economist, Chris B. www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...

Too little, too late. But I take it @nytimes.com.

He said "my heart goes out to you". He placed his palm on his heart and made the gesture to throw it to the audience. Make an effort to view the full, unedited video, and you'll come to the same conclusion as the Anti-Defamation League. Yes, that organization knows a thing or two about Nazis.

@bsky.app is full of very smart and educated people who validate on a daily basis this central truth about human nature:

Intuitions come first, strategic reasoning later.

Our passions drive our thinking. That's why bubbles are bad.

Things are different in Finland. I think it's the method. I don't get "latent class" approach for addressing this question. Priors predict violence severity strongly.

I assume this was not Finland or another Nordic country? Fun fact, though, that these countries have tons of tiny islands with summer cottages. It's not that exclusive, although still special, for a family to own an island in Finland, for example.
