Common Milkweed smells amazing and it’s so pretty. Even if it didn’t feed monarch butterfly caterpillars it would be lovely to plant. I’m amazed by the dozens of other insects that are feeding on it in my yard.

The Fish and Wildlife Service re-opening the comment period for monarch butterflies is notable, but the fact that they re-opened the comment period for two other pollinators at the same time is downright alarming.

Good news: the overwintering eastern monarch population doubled since last year. Bad news: The migratory population is still only 1/3 of the size needed to be above risk of extinction.
