Trump has treated a group as less than human and got others to see them as a threat. Propaganda has been made using false information to make people scared (e.g. false school shootings lists).
Trump hasn't killed 11 million, but he's used Hitler's dividing tactic. The only question is why.

I know trans people. Some I met throughout my school years. Personality-wise they were a lot like my other classmates, they were mostly nice people, and they never brought a gun to class.
Their only difference was their gender identity. And I don't think that makes them unhuman.

Meanwhile Trump has banned trans people from the military, even in non-combat roles, and serving trans soldiers have been pushed out.

Trans people aren't just hated for being different anymore, or even for accusations of grooming. Now trans people are accused of violence, "proven" by a list of trans US shooters. Lists vary and often include shooters that have not been described to be trans by themselves or people they know. 5/8

Personally, my mind immediately went to trans people, even as someome who was prejudiced against them at the time. If you don't dislike trans people yourself, you know somebody who does. This widespread negativity sets trans people up to be a scapegoat.

The point of "Don't Be a Sucker" from 1947 is to show that Hitler seperated people into groups; some good, some bad, basically dividing people. It wasn't too hard convincing people because he focused on those who were already disliked.
