Maybe "ScanLab" is useful. They scan colonies on plates over time. Looks like they wrote some software to control commercial scanners:

ScanLag: High-throughput Quantification of Colony Growth and Lag Time
Growth dynamics are fundamental characteristics of microorganisms. Quantifying growth precisely is an important goal in microbiology. Growth dynamics are affected both by the doubling time of the microorganism and by any delay in growth upon ...

Great! I'm not 100% sure about the salary. It's probably a 12 month appointment, but we're also in a medical school, so things are a bit different. Feel free to ask Kim Reynolds via email!

Beyond our corner of the 11th floor, UTSW is an amazing place to do basic science. There are excellent grad programs, very professional core facilities, and top notch faculty (including practicing MDs)!

E.g. Dave Greenberg, Erdal Toprak, Sherry Cao, @kvnforsberg.bsky.social, Boyuan Wang

We see many different types of science fitting under "systems biology" - the key is work that combines wet lab & dry lab (computation/theory) efforts.

Interests might include genetics, physiology, syn bio, communities, or evolution. We are open minded. If this sounds intriguing, please apply!
