Sophy Ridge: a yougov poll in July shows a majority in every party supports keeping the two child benefit cap.

A majority of Green party members support keeping the cap? Goes off to check the poll. Oh, the Green Party weren't included.

Ridge: lots of people around the world are persecuted & we can't take them all

Alison Pickup from Asylum Aid: most people who flee their countries stay nearby

Israel has killed over 1,000 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since Oct 2023

So this justifies killing hundreds of thousands of Israelis, bombing Israeli hospitals & schools, destroying synagogues, murdering Israeli journalists & healthcare workers. Isnt that how it works?

So you've come to the UK fleeing war or persecution, you're granted refugee status, you live here for 18 years during which time you build a life, career and family, and then the govt deems the country you came from safe and deports you.

Maguire reminding viewers that the number of asylum seekers & refugees coming into the UK are relatively few (most refugees stay in countries near to where they're from)

One might wonder then, why has this story been so prominent in our politics & media over the last 25 years?
November 17, 2025 at 6:55 AM
Labour continues to target asylum seekers & refugees.

None of this should come as a surprise. The last Labour govt created the narrative of bogus asylum seekers stealing our benefits & swamping our schools & it introduced vouchers & opened Yarls Wood.
