but yea opensource ends up being larger investment of time to learn everything out. I prefer it usually when it comes to anything, but there's also open source programs that feel trash using so at that point why waste time polishing turd if you find commercial product that works for you.

functions you definitely can edit / add more of but that usually ends up being more finicky / advanced stuff that most people wont mess with, because that would require access to proper documentation and so on and at that point you're modding / making you're own branch of the software.

developer oriented mindset/funding for sure but also there is the argument that ui/ux design is not that important when you know the user can edit that themself if they want to and its more cost effective to focus on software to get project running and competing rather than bad product with nice ux.
