Just finished a "lit drop" in Tumwater for great candidates I support, who stand for access and against trans erasure and transphobia. Protesting is one way to defend democracy - this is another. Support good candidates every way you can - it is HARD to run for office or be elected right now. 💙

Attended the Olympia, WA No Kings rally yesterday with my eight year old. Thousands of people at the Capitol protesting for change. My sign said, "Witches for Democracy - we don't cast spells, we cast BALLOTS." We are many. None of us is alone. And we won't surrender our country to authoritarianism.

Argentina's far right president looks like a smug, unpleasant Harry Potter to Trump's decaying Lucius Malfoy.

To dodge creeping existential dread, I took a bike ride w/ my 8 yo son today. We picked wild blackberries along the trail on the way to the farmers market. His bike tire sprung a flat, so we walked partway. Now we're riding the bus home. I feel connected to community, less adrift and more grounded.

At Tacoma Pride, filled with love for everyone here who is choosing joy, choosing inclusion, and choosing not to give two fucks about the people who want to erase us.

The congressional Big Beautiful Bill is class based theft. Many things are hard right now. But Cap City Pride was joyful. South Sound Roller Derby was out in force. We believe trans women belong in sports and derby is for everybody. If you're feeling lonely or overwhelmed, get out in your community.

The No Kings protest in Olympia yesterday was joyous and peaceful. Today we celebrate Father's Day - and that 11 million Americans turned out to fight for justice and our children's future access to a fair, democratic government.

"My complexity is uplifted and my community stands behind me." - Youth speaker from the Oasis Youth Center, at the VERY FIRST Pierce County Pride flag raising. May we endeavor to build communities where every person feels this way.

The Olympia Procession of the Luminaries was beautiful tonight. Community gathering to celebrate the brilliant diversity of life on earth. Saw some awesome art at Arts Walk too.

Today marks one year since my dad passed away. I wish my kids had known him better.

Carolyn Cox has done incredible work for the City of Lacey these last 4 years, leading our region into collaborative partnerships on tough policy issues like housing, transportation and climate change. She has all my support for another 4 years - I hope she has yours too! www.choosecarolyncox.com

Did you know you could get from Olympia or Lacey, to the Seatac Airport, for $3.25? It took about two hours. Lorien and I read our books. I'm grateful for zero fare rides with Intercity Transit and swift, cheap express service from Lakewood to Seatac with Sound Transit.

The Governor's Inaugural Ball was a really good time. Saw so many familiar faces and so many totally fancy outfits. Nice job to the Thurston Chamber for an excellent party.
