You see that massive chunk of blue that spans over half 20th century? It is PURE FDR momentum.

Begala’s criticism of Mamdani’s vote share is so disingenuous! Yes, the candidate facing both Republican and intra-party opposition in a high turnout election did not perform as well as candidates running essentially unopposed in low turnout ones.

I guess the other thing I'll say is that by january 2025 I was like "america is over. america is full of placid cucks who will let their country go to fascists without a fight" because the bulk of the country and the media didn't care about doge taking over payments infrastructure, and i was wrong

I do think this is a point of radicalization because a lot of angry, angry normal people were ready to dig in and suffer a lot in order to make fascists suffer a little, and their resolution was sold out and made into a mockery

I guess I need to add that pundits have to get out of a normal democracy mindset too.

It’s been a decade of democratic backsliding, and nearly a year of rapid descent. Writing as if it’s 2013 or 1995 is out of touch. Either ”I have my head in the sand” or “I like this but won’t say so directly.”

But how does a 15 year mortgage even work when the collateral is the vehicle, and the vehicle has depreciated to 10-15% at that point?

It must surely make sense to walk away from a mortgage well before that when the value goes underwater.
