I never got the mustard thing. Dijon is tasty but a bit on the hot side for me. And it's not a luxury, the Aldi brand sells for a reasonable price.

But the calculation is definitely not as easy as you say. Heat pumps are not linear systems in any sense. Their efficiency depends to a big part on the temperature differences they have to overcome.

But even then it is probably cheaper to cool with an AC in the summer than to heat with gas in the winter. Depending of course what the heat pump in question is designed for.

Yes, you are right in general.
I was thinking about cost first, the cost ratio of natural gas/electricity is 1/3 where I live. Finding a heat pump with an efficiency above 3x in your winter scenario is probably difficult, so heating with gas would be cheaper in that scenario.
