They were now passing a small set of steps that led up to a recessed, gated-off door. Without warning, Ren reached for Kay's hand and pulled her up to the doorway. The glow of the streetlamps that lined the courtyard left the small alcove mostly in shadow, making them almost hidden from passers-by.
