BTW, the VA online debt system is unreliable. It’s currently down, and a Debt Management employee admitted it barely limps along—working hit or miss at best. Don’t rely on it. Call 1-800-827-0648 instead.

PSA for Veterans: Call the VA Debt Management Center at 1-800-827-0648 (no menu option—just wait). Ask if you owe any debt. They can tell you what it's for. If they say you have no debt, demand a physical letter of zero balance sent to your Home of Record. Always get proof and save the letter.
