🪨 Though it was known to be an important ancient site, private owners used the site as a quarry until they were stopped in the 1950s. Since then, the destroyed parts have been restored, but many of the original rocks that made Barnenez are lost forever.

🪨 Not much is known about the people buried at Barnenez, but they were likely very important within their society. The tombs also contain interesting carvings of snakes, weapons, and something that looks kind of like a horseshoe.

🪲 A buzzard was also sent from Galun’lati to try to find more solid land, and when he got tired of flying and his wings hit the ground, he created mountains. After that, the animals and humans had plenty of space to live, all thanks to Dayuni’si!

🪲 Dayuni’si searched the surface of the sea, but found nothing. So he looked underneath. He swam to the bottom of the ocean and found mud. He grabbed as much mud as he could and brought it back to the surface. When he got there, the mud spread and spread until it became land!

🎶 When writing this song, Taylor Swift seems to view herself as the Cassandra in her own personal Trojan War, doomed to be discounted by the media and public, and defeated by the combined influence of Kimye.

🎶 The tragedy continued, as Cassandra was then taken back to Greece as a war bride of King Agamemnon of Mycenae. She foresaw her and Agammemnon’s deaths at the hands of his wife, Clytemnestra, and her lover, but was again ignored.

🎶 Cassandra foresaw the fall of Troy, but was ignored by her family and countrymen. When the city was lost, Cassandra sought refuge inside the temple of Athena, but the Greek hero Ajax the Lesser broke into the temple and assaulted Cassandra.

🎶 Contemporaneous with Homer’s “The Iliad”, Cassandra was a princess of Troy and a famous prophetess. Apollo was enamored with Cassandra and gave her the gift of prophecy. But she spurned his advances, so in his anger, he cursed her, making it so that none of her prophecies would be believed.

🍂 This would have worked as intended, but when control was given to political leaders, they abused this power to lengthen and shorten the years depending on whether they supported the people in power that year or not.

🍂 That gives us the perfect opportunity to explore another interesting element of the old Romulan calendar - intercalation! As the calendar was a lot shorter than a solar year, this intercalary period was necessary to ensure that religious festivals and other events remained in the same seasons.

🧘 Aang’s title comes from the avatāra in Hinduism, the reincarnation of a god born into the world to help restore order in a generation in dharmic trouble, a disruption of moral virtue and social harmony. In Aang’s case, he is the avatar meant to stand against the imperialistic Fire Nation.

🧘 Aang’s identity as an air nomad also connects him to Buddhism, as he resembles Buddhist monks in both appearance and character. His shaved head and orange-shaded clothing resemble the traditional kāṣāya dress, and his compassionate traits resemble the principle of loving-kindness.

🧘 The mindfulness practices Guru Pathik teaches Aang in Book Two were also taught by Siddhartha Gautama, AKA the original Buddha. Meditating in his lotus (padmasana) pose allows Aang to find tranquility and release all of his chakras to reach his full potential.

🧘 Water. Earth. Fire. Air. These are the Mahābhūta, or “great elements” in both Buddhism and Hinduism, which represent the essence of all matter and the interconnectedness of the world and the self.
